Deadline to convert your DIF rights on your CPF account

The deadline for transferring DIF rights has been extended

The Individual Right to Training (Droit Individuel à la Formation - DIF) is a system that enables employees to take part in ongoing training initiatives. It was replaced in January 2015 by the Personal Training Account (Compte Personnel de Formation - CPF). The CPF remains active throughout the beneficiary's career until retirement.

Since 1 January 2019, the CPF has been monetised: training hours, whether they come from the DIF or the CPF, are converted into euros. However, as far as DIF hours are concerned, the registration of hours is not automatic. It is up to each individual to declare its balance of hours on its CPF account.

The deadline for transferring DIF hours to the CPF account has been extended. It is now set at June 30th, 2021.

On 24 October 2020, the deputies adopted an amendment to the bill extending the state of health emergency that postpones the date by which individuals must transfer their DIF rights in order to retain their benefit. Currently, barely a quarter of the French population has already made this transfer.
