The TOEIC® Listening and Reading test, an asset for your studies

Text: To give yourself the best chance of getting into your master's program of  choice, you need to prepare your application well. Mastering English is an essential prerequisite for entering a master's program in the grandes écoles and many university programs. Therefore, it is important to emphasize your level of English in order to differentiate yourself from other candidates and show your determination.

The TOEIC® Listening and Reading test is a globally recognized certification used by many higher education institutions. A TOEIC score is a reliable and accurate way to demonstrate your level of English

The TOEIC Listening and Reading test assesses written and oral comprehension skills. It is a 2-hour multiple choice test.

A test correlated to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) provides a common framework for the  assessment of foreign language skills.  Skills are divided into six levels of proficiency defined by three main groups:

  • A1 - A2 (elementary user)
  • B1 - B2 (independent user)
  • C1 - C2 (proficient user)

TOEIC Listening and Reading test scores are correlated to the CEFR, from level A1 to C1. A B2 level corresponds to a minimum of 785 points on the test.

To find out if a minimum level of English is required for a course, simply visit the portal www.monmaster.gouv.fr, where the following information is provided for 3,500 master’s programs at different universities: recruitment procedures, expected skills and course content.
