Administration of BYOD sessions: Bring Your Own Device

Let your candidates take their TOEIC® test on-site, at your premises, with their own computer.

On this page, you will find all the information you need to administer TOEIC® test sessions where your test takers bring their own computers.

How to order a TOEIC BYOD test session?

You can order a TOEIC Listening and Reading BYOD test session from your client account.

Before placing your first order, it is essential to create the BYOD testing site and testing room, so that your session is properly referenced as such.

TOEIC BYOD test sessions are only administered on a computer in Institutional Program (on-site, at your premises) and are available for the following tests:

  • TOEIC 4-Skills
  • TOEIC Listening and Reading (2h)
  • TOEIC Listening and Reading Adaptive (1h)
  • TOEIC Speaking
  • TOEIC Speaking and Writing
  • TOEIC Bridge.

Our recommendations

Below you will find our tips for ensuring that BYOD test sessions run smoothly.

The main difference between TOEIC test sessions at your premises and BYOD test sessions is that candidates bring their own laptops, laptop chargers and wired headphones or earphones.

Testing room

The test room must comply with TOEIC standards (see Manual of Policies, Procedures and Practices P3). This room must have several power plugs to ensure test takers can charge their laptops if needed.

Test session organization

  • Sessions run from Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm. No support on Saturdays.
  • Have an IT manager present.
  • Tests are taken on laptops only.
  • All test takers in your test room must use their own laptop.

Test takers

  • Candidates must bring a laptop computer, wired headphones or earphones, a computer charger and a wired computer mouse (optional).

IMPORTANT: Candidates registered for the TOEIC 4-Skills, TOEIC Speaking and TOEIC Speaking and Writing tests must have a wired headset with microphone in order to take the Speaking section of the test.

Rules for candidates remain unchanged:

  • Food and drink are not permitted.
  • Drafts are not allowed.
  • Breaks are not permitted.

Secure Browser

Your test takers need to log in to the TOEIC platform to take their test. To do this, they need to download and start the secure browser:

After downloading the secure browser, test takers must move the file from the “Downloads” folder to their Desktop, before launching it.

An authorization code is assigned to each test taker. This is available on the admission forms, and will be communicated to candidates by the administrator on the day of the test, at the appropriate moment.

For Test Center Administrators

Make sure you have test center administrators (TCA) who are accredited to administer TOEIC online tests, so that your test session can be administered under the conditions we have defined.
