An Academic Spring in Full Swing

The month of March was marked by a strong series of academic events and partnerships across Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Celestina Cardoz, the Associate Academic Director for the TOEIC Program, played a key role in these initiatives by leading the closing ceremony at the National Republican Conference in Astana and participating in several teacher workshops across Almaty and beautiful Bishkek. These sessions brought together teachers, academics and Ministry officials from across the region.

At the closing ceremony, Celestina delivered a conference titled “TOEIC Link: Aligning AI Innovation with Language Measurement.” Her presentation introduced the TOEIC Link assessment and highlighted its value for measuring English language proficiency in both everyday and professional contexts in Central Asia.

The TOEIC Link assessments were developed to respond to market demands for efficient, modern and reliable language evaluation. They are designed to assess all four language skills listening, reading, speaking and writing. Each skill can be assessed independently or combined in any configuration, allowing for maximum flexibility. The assessments cover a wide range of proficiency levels from CEFR A1 to C1 and are delivered through a fully digital experience. Scoring is conducted by machine, with results available quickly, and total testing time across all four skills does not exceed 90 minutes. Scores are suitable for medium to high stakes decision making and are reported on one consistent scale across all skills.

TOEIC Link can be described as an AI driven online assessment that provides a fast and reliable way to measure English language proficiency in less than 90 minutes. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of today’s fast moving digital workforce.

Key features of the TOEIC Link assessment include adaptive AI driven testing that adjusts to each test taker’s proficiency level, ensuring more accurate and efficient results. Its modular structure allows organizations to assess listening, reading, speaking and writing in any combination that fits their needs. The testing experience is faster, smarter and more precise, with immediate feedback available for listening and reading. Results for speaking and writing are delivered within 48 hours, enabling quicker, more informed and data driven decision making.

As interest in AI driven language assessment continues to grow across Central Asia, these discussions marked an important step toward more innovative and flexible approaches in measuring English proficiency. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with academic institutions, educators and policy makers in the region.
