Why enhance your English level test on Parcoursup

With Parcoursup, English proficiency is an essential prerequisite for future graduates.

The Parcoursup national platform allows senior high school students to enrol in the first year of higher education. As each application is carefully reviewed by universities and other academic institutions, all applications must be well prepared. To distinguish themselves from the competition, students must be able to highlight their skills with an English level test.

Take advantage of an English level test to show your proficiency as part of the prerequisites for senior students

Proficiency in English is an essential criterion for admission to schools or universities.

On the Parcoursup® platform, each course has its main expectations and more and more academic institutions are requiring a minimum of a B2 level in English.

For instance, high school students wishing to enrol in a specific university programme will have to prove they have a B2 level in English, i.e., "independent user" according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

A TOEIC test to certify your English level

An English level test is a real asset for standing out from competition on the Parcoursup plateform.

The TOEIC® tests are the standard for assessing English levels in an international workplace and are used in France by many engineering and business schools, universities, IUTs, and specialized schools. The TOEIC® Listening and Reading test measures beginner to advanced English Listening and Reading skills in a professional environment.

For high school students, indicating their level of English in their cover letter on the Parcoursup platform with a TOEIC® score can boost their application and maximise their chance of entering the school or university of their choice. A high TOEIC® score is a real asset for standing out from competition.

For students in their final year of high school, it is an opportunity to support their application and get the higher education they want.
For the parents who read us, it is an opportunity to ensure your child has every chance of success after graduation.

Correlation of TOEIC Listening and Reading test scores onto the CEFR

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) provides a common basis for the description of competences in a foreign language. It is divided into three main groups and six different levels:

  • A1 - A2 (Basic user)
  • B1 - B2 (Independent user)
  • C1 - C2 (Proficient user)

TOEIC® Listening and Reading scores are correlated onto the CEFR from A1 to C1 levels. A B2 level corresponds to a minimum of 785 points on the test.
