Looking back at our Future of Hiring event

Connect to a world of potential

The Future of Hiring event, organized by ETS France at the Palais Brongniart in Paris on November 24, brought together around one hundred professionals from the HR and recruitment world to mark the launch of the new TOEIC® Link test.

To open the day, we had the honor of welcoming to France Ratnesh Kumar Jha, General Manager Institutional Products at ETS, who shared his vision of the evolution of assessment worldwide and the impact of AI on language use and practices.

The discussions then focused on two major themes:

  • Understanding and anticipating new HR challenges
  • Inspiring and transforming organizations

A big thank you to our speakers Marc Dennery (C-Campus), Sabine de Villoutreys (Sup des RH), Maud Grenier (Temple RH), Carlos Lopez Bonilla (ESSEC), Celestina Cardoz (ETS), Karim Hechmi (Find Your Way), Clément Lemainque (HR Nerd), Hubert Delaunay (XpertZone), Gwladys Ramette (Glad4Job), Floriane Gusciglio (emlyon), and Natalie Berkman, Ph.D. (ISIPCA) for sharing their experience and for the high quality of their contributions.

The new TOEIC Link test: designed for the corporate world

1. A flexible and modular approach

The TOEIC Link test makes it possible to assess one or more skills depending on the requirements of the role: listening comprehension in English, reading comprehension in English, speaking in English, and writing in English (Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing).

This flexibility echoes the observations shared by Marc Dennery and Sabine de Villoutreys, who emphasized that training and assessment policies must now adapt more quickly to changes in the workplace and to evolving learning methods. Perhaps we need less training, but better training—and above all, to place certification at the heart of new educational models.

2. A short and high-performance test

Each module is optimized:

Listening: 18 minutes

Reading: 26 minutes

Speaking: 10 minutes

Writing: 27 minutes

Companies can therefore benefit from reduced assessment time without compromising the scientific quality of the test—an especially important point, as Maud Grenier highlighted, given that organizations need to assess candidates more efficiently without making recruitment processes more complex.

3. Instant results thanks to AI-powered scoring

All four sections of the test (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) are scored instantly using a model powered by artificial intelligence. The TOEIC Link test guarantees a fair and secure testing experience, which is essential for strategic recruitment and HR assessment decisions.

4. Questions focused on practical skills

The test is based on real-life tasks: conversations, emails, oral repetition, expressing opinions, and understanding texts drawn from everyday professional contexts.

The TOEIC Link test evaluates the ability to communicate effectively, not just theoretical grammar knowledge. This approach aligns with the expectations and behaviors of new talents, as observed by Carlos Lopez Bonilla and Celestina Cardoz, particularly regarding Generation Z and its relationship with communication and assessment processes.

Why is the TOEIC Link test designed for companies?

✔ 1. Recruiting faster, with greater accuracy

In a context of high application volumes and urgent hiring needs, HR teams need tools to:

pre-screen candidates,

quickly verify operational English proficiency,

avoid hiring mistakes.

✔ 2. Managing increasing talent diversity and investing in senior profiles

Seniors, international talents, career-changers—the labor market has never been so heterogeneous, as Hubert Delaunay emphasized during his keynote “Integrating and valuing seniors in the workplace.” Organizations need reliable tools to quickly identify talent and to dare to trust differences.

✔ 3. Strengthening employer branding with modern tools

Candidates expect clear, fast, and fair processes, as highlighted by Karim Hechmi in his keynote “Employer branding, social networks, job ads, candidate expectations: everything you need to know.”

A globally recognized test aligned with current practices helps enhance a company’s image—an aspect widely discussed during Gwladys Ramette’s presentation, where she highlighted the benefits for C-level leaders of using standardized tests and tools to ensure fairness and transparency when managing multifunctional teams.

Take the next step

HR practices are evolving rapidly and require solutions that are recognized worldwide.

The new TOEIC Link test is designed to meet these expectations by measuring the effectiveness of English skills through a fast, secure, and flexible online solution.
