How to protect your CPF account?

Fraud on CPF accounts, how to protect yourself?

For several months, the french Ministry of Labor, Employment and Integration has been warning CPF account holders about fraudulent phone calls, emails and text messages. How to protect yourself against these scams?

How are these scams organized?

According to an article from the French Ministry of Labour, Employment and Integration, people are approaching CPF account holders, and they inform them of a risk of theft of personal data, loss of training credit or a balance to be paid for a training course outside the secure area of the mon compte formation website.

The aim of these scams is to steal personal or professional information in order to make fraudulent use of it.

By collecting personal information, these people gain access to mon compte formation account of the individual's and therefore to their CPF funds. They can then use the available funds to enroll in fictitious training courses provided by fake organizations created for these scams. Training courses on starting a business or upgrading foreign languages are particularly prone to this type of fraud.

How to avoid these scams?

To avoid being hacked, adopt the right reflexes:

  • Never communicate your personal and/or professional data, whether it be your social security number, email, login ID, date and place of birth, etc.
  • Create your personal training account yourself and remember that no professional is authorized to do this for you.
  • Secure your CPF account with a complex password.
  • Never click on a questionable link and check the website address on your browser.
  • In case of doubt, contact the CPF customer relations department directly.
